Abstract: Git is an excellent and widely used tool for distributed version control and collaborative software development. However, research in machine learning introduces challenges that Git alone does not handle well — such as large data files, hyperparameters and their tuning, and keeping everything consistent. In this talk, we will show how these challenges can be addressed using Data Version Control and MLflow, together with a bit of GitLab automation — and how Mattermost can serve not only for chatting with colleagues, but also as a convenient channel where GitLab politely (or urgently) talks back to you.
